While B.C. voters were being asked to say yes or no in a referendum on proportional representation, members of the Squamish Nation were wrapping up an electoral referendum of their own.
The 3,000 eligible voters of the Squamish Nation were asked five questions on the ballot in the first attempt to revise election rules since 1981, including if candidates should be screened for criminal behaviour or any “conduct unbecoming a Squamish elected official.”

Kelowna takes steps to preserve fire-damaged 147-year-old log house
via vancouversun.comKELOWNA — The city of Kelowna is taking steps to preserve a 147-year-old log house built by one of the area’s first European settlers after it was damaged in a fire earlier this year.
In a close vote last week, the city decided to earmark $29,000 for the construction of a temporary roof to protect Fleming House from the elements.
