New drivers will change their behaviour behind the wheel to get better driving scores when a wireless monitoring system is installed in the car.
Drivers in a three-month study on driving sensor systems said the experience was like having a “personal driving coach in the car with them,” said ICBC program manager Mark Milner.

Red Cross donates $1 million to stop invasive plants in wildfire ravaged B.C.
via vancouversun.comKAMLOOPS — More than a year after a huge wildfire, the Thompson Nicola Regional District is still cleaning up and will be so for the next three years.
The District has received $1 million from the Red Cross to help treat and prevent the spread of invasive plants following the hugely destructive Elephant Hill wildfire, which burned in an “interface” or quasi-rural area with buildings.
“With fires, as well as in the action of fighting fires, there’s a lot of disturban -

Too bad Baer couldn’t bury it on Teddy Bear night for Giants
via theprovince.comDarn you Alec Baer. Darn you.
You showed flashes of offensive upside during your four-plus years with the Vancouver Giants. You had a 19-goal season one year. You scored 44 goals in Vancouver garb in total.
If only for timing. Alec Baer scoring on the Giants’ Teddy Bear Toss night would have been pure gold.
“I had two goal calls for Teddy Bear Toss ready. I had a goal by everybody else but Alec Baer and a goal by Alec Baer,” admitted former Vancouver Giants play-by-play voice B -

“Already this school year there have been multiple incidents of police being called to our schools,” Jason Gammon, president of the Greater Victoria Teachers’ Association, said in a letter to Esquimalt council.
“Often these calls are in response to students in crisis. To a child, there is a pr -

Ben Kuzma: Fourth-line presence could be first priority against pesky Predators
via theprovince.comIt has come to this.
An optimist can opine that only eight points separate top-five producers when the struggling Vancouver Canucks are compared to the Stanley Cup contending Nashville Predators.
A pessimist can point to no NHL club surrendering more third-period goals than the Canucks and nobody surrendering fewer than the Predators. And in goals against at even strength, the confounding Canucks are a sobering 28th and the pesky Predators second overall.
A realist can sift through the rubble of -

Kremler did the unthinkable in 2015, leading Victoria’s Mount Douglas Rams to the provincial title as a Grade 9 quarterback. He won another over the weekend to close out his high school eligibility, helping spark a 48-24 win over the New Westminster Hyacks in his last game as a Grade 12.

ART SEEN: Seeing and hearing Acoustic Anvil in Leg-In-Boot Square
via vancouversun.comAcoustic Anvil sits on its feet like an ancient, rusting artifact left by giants. Solid and mostly red with streaks of brown and orange, it stretches from a ship-like prow on one side to a blunt, stubby end on the other.
It’s a work that’s a combination of opposites: at four metres by 7.5 metres, its big size holds its own as a public art work by the False Creek seawall but it also has a more intimate side that reveals itself if you get close enough. Acoustic Anvil refers both to the -
