Paul Rabil must be smirking when he thinks about the National Lacrosse League these days.
Rabil is the sport’s next generation thinker, a star player who became a social media wizard and now has the wherewithal and the connections to be the frontman for a new pro field circuit.
Sports Illustrated wrote about the fledgling Premier Lacrosse League in its recent Future Issue and compared Rabil to LeBron James, tagging the 32-year-old from Gaithersburg, Maryland as the LeBron of Lax.

Homicide detectives have been called in to investigate a fatal crash in Burnaby on Friday night.
The Barnet Highway remained closed in both directions Saturday near Texaco Drive, as Burnaby RCMP and members of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team tried to figure out what happened.
Shortly before 10 p.m., the Burnaby RCMP received a report of a single motor vehicle rollover in the 8000-block of Barnet Highway.

Tsawwassen First Nation held a ceremony to honour a dead humpback whale that washed up on shore Friday.
The whale, which appears to be juvenile, was towed away by the Coast Guard for a necropsy. The Department of Fisheries and Oceans is investigating.
It is unclear whether the whale, which washed up not far from the Tsawwassen ferry terminal, was hit by a boat, or whether it died from an illness.

PRINCE GEORGE — Enbridge Inc. says it has increased flow of natural gas through a segment of a pipeline that ruptured and burned near Prince George more than a month ago.
The company says it will increase pressure to 85 per cent of its full capacity, up from 80 per cent, on a 91-centimetre pipeline following an amendment order from the National Energy Board.

The Barnet Highway is closed near Texaco Drive while Mounties investigate a fatal crash in Burnaby Friday night.
