Vancouver police say the collision occurred shortly after 6 a.m. on SE Marine Drive near Ross Street.
A 43-year-old Vancouver man was driving a sedan east on Marine Drive when his vehicle struck a pedestrian who was crossing mid-block near Ross Street, according to police.
Passersby gave the pedestrian first aid until paramedics arrived. The man was taken to hospital where he died.

At around 4:30 a.m., a pair of power poles was cut down with a chainsaw, and a third pole was cut but remained held up by wires along railway tracks in Gates Park, according to B.C. Hydro.
The overhead power lines were brought down and an underground line was severed, causing more than 4,500 BC Hydro customers to lose power.
