San Antonio celebrates 300 years
via theprovince.comIt’s San Antonio’s 300th birthday this year and like everything in Texas they are doing it big with a year-long celebration.
The best way to catch most of it is the famed River Walk which follows the river, 8 kilometres of which runs through downtown, and is the gateway to many of San Antonio’s attractions.
The Riverwalk is a 24 kilometre walkway winding through San Antonio.

Cycling in the land of Mickey Mao
via theprovince.comAt Manuel’s suggestion, I’d left his four-storey Fawlty Towers Hotel, walked past The Hard Seat Café next door, rented a Freedom Machine bicycle, and had an early breakfast at the Hotel California just off West St. Considering this was rural China, the street’s name seemed appropriate: Kenny G musak was playing from speakers above and Minnie Mao’s Bar and Grill was serving cheese omelettes across the lane. None of this seemed strange. Here in the town of Yang -

Rainbow of raincoats: Step out in style with these 10 colourful coats
via vancouversun.comYou peak outside your window to check the morning weather. Only to find it’s raining. Again.
Rainy days are an all-too familiar weather woe for Canadians during the fall and winter months. But, thankfully, this season’s outwear options for wet weather are a whole lot sunnier than they’ve been in the past. (Think: far fewer basic beige and black toppers.)
In fact, there is a veritable rainbow of colour options on offer for outerwear this year — at every price point. And we -
Fab 5: Florals for fall
via vancouversun.comFlorals for fall may be just as groundbreaking as florals for spring — that is to say, not groundbreaking at all — but that doesn’t mean we don’t love them. Brian Minter: Persimmons are trees of the future
via vancouversun.comAbout a year ago, I wrote about edible figs, and Jim Gilbert of Northwoods Nursery in Oregon was a great source of information. At the time, he said if I ever did an article on persimmons, I was to count him in.
So, I called him recently, and we had a conversation about persimmons and why they continue to grow in popularity and are now pretty much mainstream.
Gilbert said that once you’ve eaten a persimmon, it’s very easy to acquire a taste for them. Not only that, but they are, perh -
Anthony Gismondi: Italian winemakers evolve with the times

In crowded Vancouver mayor’s race, Wai Young turns right to find space
