The provincial government will partner with B.C. municipalities to create almost 1,400 new licensed child care spaces, and undertake planning for more.
On Tuesday, Minister of Children and Family Development Katrine Conroy said the government would work with the Union of B.C. Municipalities (UBCM) to administer almost $17 million in federal and provincial money.

The accident occurred at around 8 a.m. in the 14500 block of 100 Avenue.
An initial investigation determined a black Honda Accord had crossed the centre line and collided head-on with a black Toyota RAV4 in the westbound lane of 100 Avenue.

Bella Coola RCMP say four separate fires are believed to have been deliberately set in a subdivision on the Nuxalk Nation lands.
The fires were set between June 10 and Sept. 2, all around the Four Mile subdivision, just east of Bella Coola.
Two homes, an abandoned trailer and several gas cans were set ablaze.
