Alphonso Davies pays the price for his dazzling display vs. Loons
via theprovince.comAlphonso Davies’ newly fattened wallet is probably a little thinner today, while his Vancouver Whitecaps teammates will also be a little plumper.
Fresh off his record-setting transfer signing with Bayern Munich this week, Davies played one of the best games of his career, scoring two memorable, dancing goals and setting up two others in the Caps’ 4-2 win over Minnesota United FC on Saturday night at B.C. Place.

Vancouver election 2018: NPA latest to tout mayoral hopeful in video
via vancouversun.com“Things can get better.”
That’s the message Ken Sim, the Non-Partisan Association’s mayoral candidate, has for Vancouver residents in a new video the party has released in the lead-up to the 2018 local elections.
Sim is one of at least seven people vying for the job of Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson, who will not seek a fourth term. Most of them have released their own videos that announce their candidacy or simply present their image to residents.

Long-lost B.C. soccer trophy found, in a garage
via vancouversun.comFrom 1914 to 1947 the Mainland Cup was the pinnacle of B.C. soccer.
“There wasn’t a formal provincial championship, so if you won the Mainland Cup, you were essentially the top team in B.C.,” explains Jason Beck of the B.C. Sports Hall of Fame.
“For a 40 year period, it was the most significant soccer trophy in B.C.”
But it disappeared in the late 1940s, and nobody had a clue what happened to it.
“People have asked me about this trophy, and I thought it was lo -
From Sweet Georgia Brown to sweet domesticity on False Creek, Mel Davis looks back on a long and interesting life

And while the real estate sector largely drives B.C.’s economy, many members of the industry appear to have significant work to do on this front. According to data obtained by Postmedia News, Canada’s financial intelligence watchdog found “significant” and “ve -

Peter Fricker: Let's put an end to events that torment animals
via vancouversun.comMost people care about how kittens and puppies are treated, but how many people have empathy for a 2,000-pound bucking bull?
The rodeo and bull-riding industries say bulls are mean and “ornery” and, of course, dangerous. They also call the bulls “athletes” — as though bulls have chosen a career in sports in the same way a football player might. They say bulls are just doing what they love to do.
The truth, however, is a different story. Bull-riding events depend on -
