TransLink will increase the frequency of its buses and trains and extend service hours for the Celebration of Light.
The modified service will be in effect on July 28, Aug. 1 and 4. On those evenings, riders are reminded that bikes are not allowed on SkyTrains after 10 p.m. until crowds have cleared, while some train stations will also have modified access to manage crowd flow.

It says buyers, including real estate speculators, will have to disclose more complete information when they purchase a property through a corporation or trust.
Starting Sept. 17, the new property transfer tax will require people to report additional information, including their name, citizenship and social insurance number, if they purchase through a corporation or trust.

Bolt cutters used to steal poodle from Vancouver SPCA shelter

The B.C. SPCA says the teacup poodle was stolen from its Vancouver shelter sometime on Tuesday night.
Someone used bolt cutters to rip through the outer gate of the facility and then again through the kennel door to swipe the tiny dog.
Lorie Chortyk, general manager of community relations for the B.C. SPCA, says Mickey was one of six teacup poodles that the SPCA took in on July 14 after receiving a complaint about their well-being.

Abbotsford police investigating fatal crash involving unidentified man

The man was a pedestrian in the 34000-block of Gladys Avenue at around 3:05 a.m. when he was hit by a commercial vehicle.
The male pedestrian had died by the time police arrive. He has not yet been identified.
The driver of the truck remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators.

Vancouver water parks, outdoor pools open longer during heat wave
via vancouversun.comThe Vancouver park board says it will extend the hours of several outdoor pools and water parks during the heat wave to help people cool off.
Second Beach, New Brighton, Maple Grove, and Hillcrest outdoor pools will open an hour earlier at 9 a.m. Kitsilano Pool opens at 7 a.m.
The park board says 14 water parks will also be open longer from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Normally the water parks operate daily from 10 a.m. to 8 pm.
