Wine Guy: Time to celebrate South African wines
South Africa has always encompassed a unique spot in the world of wine.
This is not just from a geographic perspective — though admittedly looking at South Africa on a world map points to its relative vinous isolation — rather, the uniqueness references the “Old World” wine sensibilities that meet “New World” wine growing approaches and production.
This traditional-yet-different approach has seen many label South Africa as the “Middle World” of win -

Letters, June 7: Premier John Horgan should stop fighting pipeline that taxpayers now own
Thank you Premier John Horgan and Green party Leader Andrew Weaver. I always wanted to be part-owner of a pipeline. Not!
The pipeline needs to be built. Stop your stalling tactics. Stop saying you’re speaking for all British Columbians because you aren’t.
Horgan says we should refine oil here. I don’t disagree, but where would he build the refinery? He never mentions that part because no one wants it in their neighbourhood.
So get the pipeline built and get on to other issues. -
