via vancouversun.comThe Supreme Court of Canada has dismissed a leave to appeal by former Vancouver notary Rashida Samji of her criminal conviction for operating an $110-million Ponzi scheme.
The decision by the high court not to hear Samji’s appeal was announced Friday.
It means that Samji, who had been out on bail pending the decision, will now serve her six-year sentence handed down in B.C. Supreme Court in 2016.

Cyclist killed in collision with dump truck in North Vancouver

The collision happened shortly after 7 a.m. at the intersection of St. Andrews Avenue and East Second Street, according to RCMP.
Emergency crews responded but the 54-year-old North Vancouver man died.
The man’s family has been notified but he has not been identified by RCMP.
Police say the driver of the dump truck remained on scene. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.

Two people confirmed dead in house fire in Vernon

The conventional tool used to see malignant cells in the bladder is a white light camera-tipped instrument called a cystoscope that’s passed through the urethra to the bladder. But doctors say white light doesn’t always detect smaller, flatter cancerous lesions.
