Extreme gasoline prices in Metro Vancouver are threatening the crucial service provided by 148 volunteers who drive thousands of cancer patients to their treatments.
With the cost of a litre of regular gas now in the range of $1.60, Pauline Buck, a driver and coordinator for the Volunteer Cancer Drivers Society, said she doesn’t know if her non-profit group “will be able to raise enough money to pay the drivers’ mileage expenses.”
