Ben Kuzma: If Sedins retire, should Canucks rehire calming, scoring Vanek?
via theprovince.comThomas Vanek made sure he found time to find Henrik and Daniel Sedin on Saturday morning.
Like so many of his NHL peers, the Columbus Blue Jackets’ winger sought out the Sedins because, like the rest of us, he doesn’t know whether the unrestricted free agents will play another season or retire. The hello could have been a goodbye.
And should the Sedins say enough is enough, even Vanek — who had 41 points (17-24) in 61 games with the Canucks before being dealt to the Blue Jacket -
Five things about the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival
via vancouversun.comThe 13th annual Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival celebrating the pinking of Vancouver starts Tuesday and runs until April 29.
It’s the springtime festival that urges us to look up from our mobile devices long enough to take in the clouds of blooms above us and down the street. And it offers almost two dozen blossom-themed community events, most of which are free. This year the event is presented by Coromandel Properties and the Vancouver park board. Flowers a multigenerational affair for farmers behind Abbotsford tulip festival
via vancouversun.comFew sights are prettier than a field of daffodils in bloom — unless you’re a flower farmer.
Daffodils destined for market must be picked at “pencil stage,” when their slender stems taper to a yellow point. A field of blossoms represents a missed opportunity.
On a recent morning in Abbotsford, thousand of flowers on the verge of bursting into colour are being harvested by hand. The stems are bundled into bouquets and then transported to a grocery store.
