Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is expected to formally exonerate six Tsilhqot’in chiefs more than 150 years after they were hanged by B.C.’s colonial government following a deadly confrontation with a crew of white road builders.
On Monday, Trudeau will absolve the Tsilhqot’in of guilt “in any way, shape or form” for the killing of 14 construction workers in 1864, said Chief Joe Alphonse in a video posted on the Tsilhqot’in National Government’s Facebook

Metro Vancouver refugees, kids hurt by federal summer grant change
via vancouversun.comFor the past 12 years, the Living Hope Christian Fellowship church in Surrey has been receiving federal summer grants to hire two students to run a week-long camp and a drop-in centre for youths in the Whalley neighbourhood.
But the programs are in jeopardy this year because funding from the Canada Summer Jobs program has been denied to any applicant, like the Living Hope church, that refuses to agree to a statement that in effect states support for abortion.

'Black eye' on the birthplace of B.C.: Dispute divides Fort Langley
via vancouversun.comOn a postcard-perfect street lined with cafés and shops, a boarded-up storefront is bound to attract attention. In historic Fort Langley, six of them have become the talk of the town.
Earlier this year, as the Township of Langley announced ambitious plans to develop several city-owned lots near the Fort Langley waterfront, developer Eric Woodward was in the process of withdrawing three development applications for projects along Glover Road, the village’s main street.

Mike Smyth: The taxman cometh and you will pay more starting on April 1
via theprovince.comVancouver gas prices were already the highest in North America even before the latest price spikes cranked up the pain at the pumps to excruciating levels.
Now get set for an even harsher whack to your wallet, as British Columbia’s carbon tax is scheduled to jump on Sunday.
The carbon tax will rise 1.11 cents per litre on April Fools Day, pushing the total amount of B.C. carbon tax levied on a litre of gas to 7.78 cents.
That might not seem like a lot in isolation. But when it’s adde -
How the 2018 Juno judging process works
via vancouversun.comHere’s a handy flow chart from the people who run the Juno Awards, explaining how the awards get handed out.

via theprovince.comBrian Rowe will have plenty to say to his former L.A. Galaxy teammates.
He won’t say much about them, though.
The veteran ‘keeper joined the Vancouver Whitecaps in the off-season in a trade with the Galaxy, leaving the SoCal area that had been his home for 10 years — six with the MLS side and four as the starter for the UCLA Bruins.
