LONDON, Ont. — If ever there was a cautionary tale for parents to relay to their fearless teenage kids, it’s this one — a stupid idea that became deadly.
Riley Shannon died trying to stop three buddies from joyriding around on a John Deere skid steer, akin to a Bobcat vehicle, that belonged to his friend’s dad.
They weren’t supposed to be driving it. They were told to get off it and leave it alone.
Shannon was run over. The three teenagers didn’t stick around

Metro Vancouver housing prices up 48 per cent since 2010: CMHC
via vancouversun.comA 48 per cent hike in Vancouver housing prices from 2010 to 2016 is being partly driven up by homebuyers bidding a higher price for a property because they believe foreigners are investing in the market, according to the CMHC.
In a wide-ranging report released Wednesday that examined escalating real estate prices in Vancouver and Canada’s four other largest cities, the federal housing agency said between five and 10 per cent of Vancouver’s market is owned by non-resident investors.

Ed Willes: Time for Canucks management to get it right. For once
via theprovince.comIn the long and morbid history of the Vancouver Canucks there have been three moments when the franchise stood on the precipice of greatness; three moments when the heartbreak kids were poised to deliver the faithful from their suffering.
We won’t spend a lot of time on the details, but the first such moment came in the early 1990s with the Pavel Bure-Trevor Linden team. With a little luck and some adroit drafting — the Canucks held three top-23 picks in the rich 1990 draft — t -

Restaurant review: Popular ramen bar controls lineups with an app

Where: 541 Robson Street, 2129 West 41st Avenue, 4575 Central Boulevard, Burnaby
Open: Lunch and dinner daily. jinya-ramenbar.comLineups into a restaurant were once ads for monstrous servings of meh food at an enticing price. Enticing prices, I like, but not so much the meh food. And lineups? Call me no-fun. I flee.
And lineups made me a latecomer to Jinya Ramen Bar, even though the crowds outside looked like they knew good food. I could have driven to Kerrisdale or Burnaby -

Giants could need even more of Watts next season after losing 80 goals to pro ranks
via theprovince.comConsider this current Vancouver Giants stretch as another job interview for Brayden Watts in his bid for an increased scoring role next season.

While the weather is fine and the Super Bowl was tremendous, that first game of the road trip against the Panthers was, in a word, brutal.

Refit Carnival Elation sparkles in Caribbean voyage
via theprovince.comI have to admit I have an affinity for older cruise ships. These smaller vessels carry less people than today’s massive megaships, but they still provide a quality cruise experience.
