  Police are investigating after a man was hit and killed on the Sea to Sky Highway near Squamish early Saturday.
  At around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, Squamish RCMP received a call about a man on Highway 99 in the northbound lane near Loggers Lane and Finch Drive. Police who arrived at the scene found that the 20-year-old male pedestrian from Squamish had been hit by a tractor trailer and had died, said Cpl. Sascha Banks in a news release.

  A magnitude-3.1 earthquake struck Saturday night in Washington state’s San Juan Islands, about 20 kilometres from Sidney and 24 kilometres from Victoria.
  The U.S. Geological Survey said the temblor happened at 10:57 p.m. at a depth of 14 kilometres. It initially reported the magnitude of the quake at 2.9, then revised it to 3.2 and finally 3.1.
