  A pilot who died following a seaplane crash in Australia on New Year’s Eve is reportedly a former B.C. man who had previously worked with Harbour Air.
  The single-engine plane sank rapidly after crashing into the Hawkesbury River in New South Wales on Sunday.
  Those on board the plane included pilot Gareth Morgan, as well as prominent British businessman Richard Cousins, Cousins’ fiancee and her daughter and Cousins’ two sons. All six have died.

  The first B.C. baby of 2018 was born south of the Fraser in Surrey, just nine seconds into the new year.
  Fraser Health and the B.C. Government announced Monday morning that this year’s New Year’s baby was a girl born at Surrey Memorial Hospital to first-time parents, mom Manpreet Kaur Nijjar and dad Hardip Singh Shergill.
