Barred owl now recovering after being rescued in downtown Vancouver
via vancouversun.comA barred owl suffering from injuries was rescued in downtown Vancouver on Monday morning.
The owl was found with injuries to its left side including a swollen left eye, damaged feathers on its left wing and blood pooling in its mouth.
“Due to the nature of the injuries it appears the owl was hit by a car,” said Wildlife Rescue spokesman Sam Smith.
The owl has since been moved into the care of the Orphaned Wildlife Rehabilitation Society in Delta to continue its recovery.

Wayward summer tanager makes first appearance on record in Vancouver
via vancouversun.comA wayward summer tanager is being observed for the first time in Metro Vancouver — and is attracting a throng of birders from around the region.
This particular summer tanager is an immature male and should be wintering in much warmer climes to the south, but it showed up Saturday morning in Wendy Kahle’s backyard is southwest Vancouver.
The colourful bird has only been recorded six times in B.C. and never before in Metro Vancouver, according to the B.C. Rare Bird Alert website.

Peruvian news outlet Correo says Reyna will speak with investigators Monday afternoon.
