  A collision in Burnaby between a van and a police truck has drawn the attention of the Independent Investigation Office.
  Just after 11:30 p.m. Tuesday night, a van travelling eastbound on Dorset Street collided with a police truck, which had been travelling northbound on Macpherson Avenue, Burnaby RCMP say in a media release.

  A Vancouver man who brutally beat his mother to death has received a sentence of life in prison with no parole eligibility for 12 years.

  More than 20,000 B.C. Hydro customers were left without power on Wednesday morning thanks to a downed wire.
  B.C. Hydro spokeswoman Tanya Fish said the outage affects the Port Kells, Walnut Grove and Fort Langley areas.
