Themrise Khan: Quebec’s religious neutrality law ‘clearly about discrimination’
via theprovince.comLet me be extremely clear. I am not in favour of Quebec’s religious neutrality law. As many have observed, Bill 62 contradicts the very idea of neutrality, breaches the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the political machinations of the legislation are all too obvious.
The signs clearly point toward niqab as the legislation’s prime target. Past cases such as the Quebec religious symbols ban and the attempt to uncover women for the citizenship oath corroborate this.

via vancouversun.comIt looks like Santa Claus is a Telus customer now.
The telecom giant has stepped in to save Vancouver’s Santa Claus Parade, after organizers made a public plea seeking more sponsors to sign on and help save the parade.
Earlier this month, it was announced the annual event was in jeopardy due to a budget shortfall of about $150,000 this year. It typically costs $400,000 to put on the parade, with the majority of the costs going toward policing, float construction and parade production.

Botchford: Travis Green doesn’t believe in labels when it comes to his lines
via theprovince.comST. PAUL, Minn — It would be the most difficult game on Luminosity.
Name the Canucks top line or their fourth. I’ll wait.
Maybe not. It could take all week.
Coach Travis Green deploys his lines like the rest of us choose lunch. Some days it’s soup. Other days it’s a sandwich. And sometimes it’s both with a side of fries.
