Canucks: Derek Dorsett’s pride, pace, pesky play spark shutdown winger
via theprovince.comDerek Dorsett seemed stunned by the summation.
Reminded that his projected role with the Vancouver Canucks has been widely scrutinized — he may not be an every day player because of what the 30-year-old winger has endured with his health and the taxing game he must play — he paused for a moment Saturday.
And then came this following a satisfying 3-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers at Rogers Arena in which Dorsett turned back the clock and turned up the effort.

The Canucks could be, gasp, fun.

Any fans Green lost in the morning, he won back before the first period was even over.
For most of this game, his shutdown line would bend but it did not break. That is something because before this game people were seriously mulling McDavid’s chances of getting either 100 goals or 100 assists.

Work with police dogs helps Vancouver's poet laureate find her way
via vancouversun.comWhen Vancouver’s poet laureate Rachel Rose did her first midnight ride with an RCMP canine officer and his dog, she was terrified — and exhilarated.
For the soft-spoken mother of three, stealing away in the night felt almost subversive — a secret life far removed from diapers, nap times and quietly tooling the poems that have brought her acclaim.
