KAMLOOPS, B.C. — Wildfires are continuing to tear through British Columbia one month after the provincial government declared a state of emergency.
Chief fire information officer Kevin Skrepnek says the province has seen 904 fires since April 1 and most of the major blazes wreaking havoc are ones that prompted the state of emergency declaration July 7.
That includes the massive 1,100-square-kilometre Elephant Hill fire near Ashcroft, B.C., that is believed to be human caused and remains un

Man dead in single-vehicle crash in Vancouver
via vancouversun.comA Sunday morning car crash has left a 20-year-old Surrey man dead.
About 6 a.m. the man was driving east down West 4th Avenue when Vancouver police say it appears he lost control of his car and hit a pole near the Trimble Street intersection.
The man died of his injuries.
This is the city’s sixth collision-related death in 2017.
The VPD’s Collision Investigation Unit are working to determine what may have led to the collision, and are asking anyone who may have information about the -

On August 5th, police received a delayed report of gunshots to a residence in the 6800-block of 196th street. The shots had been fired the previous day.
At the scene, police observed that three homes had been struck by bullets. No one was injured.
Police then located the weapons, explosives and drug production materials.
