KAMLOOPS, B.C. — Officials say restrictions meant to help stave off new wildfires in tinder-dry British Columbia appear to be working as people enjoy the long weekend.

Teenaged victim of Friday shooting in Abbotsford identified
via vancouversun.comPolice have identified the 18-year-old male who was shot and killed Friday in Abbotsford as Jaspreet Sidhu.
The teen was known to police as being involved in gang activity; the shooting is not believed to be random. His death is being treated as a homicide and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is leading the investigation.
Sidhu, an Abbotsford resident, was shot in the 32000-block of Oriole Crescent around 3:15 p.m. Police arrived in the area shortly after.
