KAMLOOPS — Children playing, older men crying and hundreds of displaced Cariboo residents lumped up under sheets on emergency cots, trying to get rest after a long night of travel.
That was the scene inside Sandman Centre on Sunday morning, where thousands of Williams Lake’s evacuees gathered for registration and temporary lodging.
The city of more than 10,000 people was placed under evacuation order early Saturday evening.

A Saturday afternoon car collision has claimed the life of a woman, believed to be in her 90s.
According to RCMP, officers came across the aftermath of a two-car collision at the intersection of 72nd Avenue and 132 Street around 3:20 p.m. Saturday.
