A new 10-year vision for the city’s swimming life is asking some interesting questions.
Would residents be interested in “non-traditional aquatics,” like natural swimming pools, floating pools or outdoor hot tubs? Those are the interesting new ideas — but also in the mix are plans for rebuilding several community pools as well as putting a new facility in Kitsilano.

Surrey RCMP are searching for a missing 69-year-old who is new to Canada and unfamiliar with the area.
Abdulmajeed Jafarzada was last seen at 9 a.m. on Tuesday in the 9000-block 146A Street in Surrey. His family has not seen or heard from him since.

WILLIAMS LAKE — The first heat wave of the summer is expected to hit British Columbia’s Cariboo region by the weekend and the B.C. Wildfire Service says it is bracing for potential fires as a result.
The service says lightning storms along with the heat could spawn increased wildfire activity across the central Interior.
It says there were three lightning-caused fires in the region over the last four days after seeing just seven between April 1 and June 20.

Abbotsford Police Department has released surveillance photos showing a suspect fleeing the scene of a fire that destroyed an OK Tire early Saturday morning.
The man was spotted running from the business in the 33200-block of South Fraser Way at about 4:30 a.m.
The APD’s major crime unit is investigating and treating the fire as arson.
It’s believed the fire was started inside the business.
