Turkish media are suggesting the Whitecaps’ long-dreamed-of signing of Atiba Hutchinson is nearing reality.
According to Turkish news site Haber 3, the Caps have offered Hutchinson’s club Beskitas a US$5 million transfer fee. Haber says the team is getting the support of MLS in covering the large fee, which would far exceed the Whitecaps’ previous record payment.
West Ham bid a similar amount for Hutchinson a year ago, but were turned down.

WILLIAMS LAKE — One person needed to be pulled to safety after an early morning wash out along a rural British Columbia highway swept away at least one vehicle.
A news release from North District RCMP say the wash out occurred just after 3 a.m. on Highway 20, about 25 kilometres west of Williams Lake about 300 kilometres north of Vancouver.
Rescuers were able to reach one person on a car that had been washed into the rushing water and that person has been taken to hospital for treatment.
