The state funeral for Grace McCarthy, the first lady of B.C. Social Credit, will take place Wednesday morning in downtown Vancouver.
She died May 24 at the age of 89 after battling a brain tumour for some time.
Nicknamed “Amazing Grace” and the “ultimate Socred,” McCarthy helped to revive the Social Credit party after its defeat by the New Democrats in 1972. She was the first female deputy premier in Canada and was regarded as forever optimistic and positive.

Police have arrested a man who was the subject of a public notice in Abbotsford this week.
Jason Stanley Whitford was arrested Tuesday evening by the Surrey RCMP and the Abbotsford Police Department.
