If you’re a high school senior boys rugby coach in B.C., the second scariest thing about Shawnigan Lake is that they won the top division again this year.
The scariest thing has to be that the Vancouver Island crew also captured the junior boys B.C. banner for a second straight spring.
Their 36-13 triumph over Robert Bateman for the Grade 9-10 trophy on Friday at Abbotsford’s Rotary Stadium is further evidence they don’t seem to be slowing down, especially when you consider the

UBC-bound Dannatt, Dozzi crush 3,000-metres high school track record
via theprovince.com
Tyler Dozzi talked the talk, and then both he and Charlie Dannatt ran the run.
Dozzi, a middle-distance specialist from Victoria’s Oak Bay, suggested heading into the weekend’s high school track and field provincials — held at Langley’s McLeod Athletic Park — that John Martens’s 1975 meet record in the 3,000 metres was in jeopardy due to a first-rate field entered in the race that would push the pace.
Dozzi and Dannatt delivered on that discussion, as the -

Twitter Rant: Campaign for an unelected speaker a "horrible idea," says columnist
via vancouversun.com
A campaign for a change to the B.C. Constitution Act that would allow a non-MLA to serve as Speaker of the legislature is being called a “horrible idea” by Vancouver Sun legislative columnist Rob Shaw.
Democracy Watch, a national advocacy group on government ethics, argues that it doesn’t serve the public by having a partisan politician serving as presiding officer in the Legislative Assembly.

Chuck Berry CHUCK (Dualtone)
On his final recording, the late legendary architect of rock n’ roll does what he’s always done. It would be more than a little late in the game for him to mix up the stripped down, bluesy riffing that is the foundation of some of the most beloved songs of all time.
Yet what instantly strikes you about his first new recording since 1979s Rock It is just how incredibly vital his signature boogie remains. From the opening track, Wonderful Woman, to the -

Oliver Castillo in Hand to God.
Don’t be fooled by the Arts Club’s publicity for Hand to God. They’re advertising the play as “an irreverent comedy,” with a poster of a cute little devilish hand puppet.
It’s a comedy all right, but about as dark as they come. And “irreverent” is an enormous understatement. Hand to God is demonic. It’ -
