Edmonton’s latest homicide victim, found dead on the sidewalk in north Edmonton earlier this week, died from “multiple gunshot wounds,” autopsy results released Saturday show.
Enzo Campoli, 52, was discovered by officers outside a house in the Mayliewan neighbourhood near 77 Street and 166 Avenue around 8:15 p.m. Wednesday.
Police were called to the area after they received multiple calls about potential gunshots.

Trio on the run arrested in stolen vehicle after they ask police for gas
A woman and two men are in custody after they approached police in a stolen vehicle filled with drugs, asking for help because they had run out of gas.
The trio were arrested after a traffic stop Friday afternoon as they headed northbound on Highway 2 near Glen Park Road in Leduc — but they weren’t the ones pulled over.
According to an RCMP media release, the vehicle pulled over in front of the police, and a woman exited the vehicle wanting help because she had run out of gas.

The leadership of Fort McMurray First Nation #468 has obtained an emergency court order to stop protesters from blocking band-owned assets and has suspended a councillor accused of “wrongful conduct.”
On Monday, a group of protesters began blocking access to the First Nation’s main office, as well as the lay-down yard and main office of the band-owned company Christina River Enterprises.
The protesters were demanding a new election and argued the leadership of the Fir -

Saturday's letters: Golf courses are wildlife havens
I used to be adamantly opposed to golf courses ever since working on Kananaskis park and seeing the destruction of wild spaces to make it available to hundreds more people solely for recreational purposes.
However, since being involved with a group that helped the Royal Mayfair get its certification by the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf in 2014 and the many trips this entailed around the course, I have changed my tune.
Having seen foxes, coyotes, deer, myriad birds, por -
Fitness column: Which 2019 fitness trends are untenable?
The fitness powers that be have released this year’s top 10 exercise trends that, frankly, may have little bearing on your next workout. The challenge with most trends is they disappear as quickly as they arrive. What makes the list this year is often absent from the next.
Here is a quick review of 2019 trends (in no particular order) with a few notes on staying power and whether they can boost your health and fitness goals.

Wine column: Start off the new year with low-calorie wine options
January signals the shift from holiday indulging back to moderation and focusing on leading a healthier lifestyle. Drinking responsibly is always important, and here’s a tip — drinking less… but better. Here’s the skinny on wine calories.
Wines using ‘skinny’ on the label suggest there is some unique quality (think aspartame) that will offer fewer calories than others. These ‘skinny’ wines boast 100 calories per five-ounce glass along with p -
'Less is more' is blues guitarist's challenging goal to reach for
You can delve deep into the history of the blues, you can add political or social commentary to the lyrics, or address gender stereotypes in the songs. But in the end, for many fans and musicians, enjoying the blues comes down to a certain simple pleasure.
“For me, it’s more about a groove or a feeling,” says Trent Schmiedge, founder, guitarist and singer of Saskatoon-based trio The Blue Mules. “We don’t have a lot of lyrics in our songs and there are not a lot of b -

Keith Gerein: NDP may regret being the tortoise as the provincial election race draws near
In as little as three weeks, the NDP will begin to wage its first-ever election campaign as the defending champions of Alberta politics.
Instead of attacking the government in charge, Rachel Notley’s team will be in the unfamiliar position of defending its record, touting its accomplishments, and re-hyping a vision of the province grounded in four years of established policy.
Given the enthusiasm Notley and her supporters showed at the NDP’s convention last fall, you’d expect t -
Edmonton's storied McBain Camera snapped up by London Drugs, will continue to operate independently
Family-owned McBain Camera, a staple in the Edmonton photography scene for the past 70 years, has been purchased by London Drugs — another family-owned company developed in Western Canada.
But former owner and general manager Neil McBain wants to ensure loyal customers that the stores will continue to run independently with the longtime brand staying put.
“I’m still running the place, none of the employees are being let go,” McBain said in an interview Thursday afternoon. -

Edmonton city council voted to expropriate a parcel of downtown land Friday, ensuring the space will be available for a park planned for the urban core.
