  A 48-year-old man driving a semi was the victim of a New Year’s Day train collision, Strathcona County RCMP said Wednesday.
  Strathcona County RCMP continue to investigate the 2 p.m. collision between the tanker truck and train near Highway 216 and Range Road 232.
  The 48-year-old male driver and lone occupant of the dual-tanker fuel truck died at the scene, said RCMP. Police noted that the tanker truck was stopped on the railroad track when it was struck by the east bound train.

  One person is dead after a grain train and truck collided north of Sherwood Park Tuesday afternoon, say police.
  The collision happened just after 1:30 p.m. north of Highway 16 on Range Road 232.
  The grain train, which was empty, was travelling from Edmonton to Saskatoon, said CN spokesman Jonathan Abecassis.
  “The contents of the fuel tank of the truck have been contained after initially leaking following the collision and there is no risk to the public,” he said in a statement.
