Archbishop Jordan High School
During a time where stress is accustomed, curiosity is sinful and achievement is valued above mental health, when “the greatest question of life” is unanswered and adolescents are left in the dark, children must explore their awakening sexuality alone. In Ecole Archbishop MacDonald’s riveting performance of Spring Awakening, actors wondrously depicted a diverse array of sensitive issues from the late 1800s, proving them to be unc

Neighbours heard screams from home of suspected domestic violence death
A neighbour said he heard screams ring out from a west Edmonton home where a woman died Friday, in what police believe is a case of domestic violence.
Charges are pending against a 54-year-old man who turned himself in following what investigators are calling the “suspicious death” of a 49-year-old woman at a home in Breckenridge Greens early Friday. Police have refused to name the man who is being held in custody, or to identify the woman who died, stating in a press release that it -

Game Day 38: Sharks at Oilers
When Edmonton Oilers waived Valentin Zykov Friday morning, the initial assumption was that he had lost out in a numbers game as space was needed to make room for Kris Russell. The veteran defenceman is expected to return to the line-up as early as this afternoon as the Oil host the San Jose Sharks. Even his harshest critics can hardly debate that should help stabilize what has been a mighty leaky boat in his absence, severely exacerbated by the loss of #1 defen -
Opinion: It's time to end forced transfers of dying Albertans
Dying Albertans deserve quality care and heavy doses of compassion in their final days of life. They generally receive it, due in no small part to the dedication of frontline health-care workers and the heroic sacrifices of family caregivers.
It is clear, however, that Alberta is falling short when it comes to the treatment of desperately suffering residents who request medical assistance in dying (MAID) in some of the province’s publicly funded hospitals, hospices and long-term care homes -
Embracing technology in the ever evolving Edmonton music world
Whether you’re a professional performer or a hobbyist at home, the mechanics of making music have changed dramatically over the past century.
A hundred years ago, as the novelty of phonograph recordings was just starting to take off, one of the most common scenes of music making at home involved family members grouped around the piano, a relatively inexpensive fixture in many living rooms.
No one could have guessed back then that plugging guitars, basses, and just about everything else int -
Dining Out: Three Vikings brings Danish delights to 124th Street
If clearly blessed with a burgeoning neighbourhood food and drink orbit, there were audible moans occasioning the demise of Daravara on 124th Street. It’s true that the gastropub’s (hate that designation) kitchen had its ups and downs over a relatively short lifespan — along with industrial optics some found bleak — but for many of us it was a friendly, agreeable, locally-owned spot for a glass or two and better-than-average pub fare.
The good news for consumers is t -

You never know when serendipity presents itself as with this duck making a paddle for it while the Elite class women dive into the lake for their 750-metre swim on their first leg of the ITU World Triathlon at Hawrelak Park on July 27.
Seconds before the start of the race, I saw these ducks heading straight for the start line, so I zoomed back my lens hoping just by chance the ducks would cross the athletes’ path, which one did before taking off in a hurry.

The event began a decade ago when a downtown beat officer wanted to bridge the gap between police and the community. Since then, -
