  • Homicide detectives probe woman's death in west Edmonton home; man turns himself in

    Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a 49-year-old woman in what they say is a case of domestic violence in west Edmonton’s Breckenridge Greens neighbourhood Friday.
    Officers received an assault with a weapon call at 8:50 a.m. at a home near 214 Street and Breckenridge Drive and arrived to find the injured woman. She died at the scene from undisclosed injuries.

    Three men were transported to hospital — one in life-threatening condition — from a dance music event hosted at Shaw Conference Centre Thursday night.

    Edmonton police have shut down roads in the city’s west Breckenridge Greens neighbourhood as they investigate an assault with a weapon call, police said Friday.

  • Fire engulfs rural home in city's far north

    Edmonton fire crews were working to knock down a blaze at a rural home on the city’s northern edge Friday morning.
    Firefighters were called to the blaze near 248 Avenue and 18 Street at 8:36 a.m. No one was inside when fire crews arrived.
    Fire spokeswoman Maya Filipovic said crews arrived to find the home fully engulfed in flames. She said crews could see smoke in the distance on their way there.
