• Review: ESO brings colourful sounds to Alexander Prior’s reimagined Bach suite

It’s not often you see the three keyed instruments of a piano, harpsichord and celeste nestled among a symphony orchestra at the same time, together with a plethora of tuned percussion, gongs, drums and bells.
It’s even rarer to see such an array of orchestral instruments in a concert featuring the music of J.S. Bach.
But this was the Winspear on Saturday, Dec 1, with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra opening the hall’s Christmas season. The auditorium balconies were festoon

The Edmonton Oilers awake Sunday morning deep in the hunt for a playoff spot in their Division after a 2-1 win over the streaking Vegas Golden Knights.
There were a lot of people who had written off this club’s post-season chances after the last meeting between these two clubs. That game was a 6-3 loss, lowering the Oilers record to 9-10-1. The team had dropped 6 of its last 7. It was the last straw. The Vegas game cost Todd McLellan his job.
Fast forward 12 days later, and those same Oile

The early numbers are in and the post-recreational cannabis legalization landscape is nothing if not underwhelming, if police statistics are anything to go by.
While it has only been a month, statistics from the RCMP and Calgary Police Service show that the number of cannabis-related violations — especially driving charges — are almost negligible.
The data does come with the caveat that the number of people charged could increase as investigations continue and a month of data is hard
