• Review: Remembrance Day concerts offer fitting tributes

The 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War was powerfully commemorated by two concerts on Remembrance Day (Sunday, Nov. 11), both of which included a cross-section of war poetry as well as music.
The first was in the Winspear Centre in the afternoon, where the Richard Eaton Singers under their conductor Leonard Ratzlaff gave the Alberta premiere of a major work by Allan Bevan, Last Light Above the World. This was a moving oratorio combining narrated texts on war with music for choru

  • The Edmonton Oilers get thoroughly dominated by the Colorado Avalanche in a sobering 4-1 defeat

The Edmonton Oilers played their worst game of the season Sunday evening, falling 4-1 to the Colorado Avalanche.

Speaking of 4…this was also the fourth consecutive game that the club spotted their opposition a deuce and were forced to try and come all of the way back. That’s obviously g

  • Edmonton man plays role in major peace deal between Ethiopia, Somali group

Ahmed Abdulkadir figured one of two things could happen when his plane touched down in Ethiopia.
