Three people including a 14-year-old boy have been charged after an armed robbery at an electronics store in Fort Saskatchewan earlier this week.
Police say the robbery happened just before 3 p.m. on Nov. 8. Two men allegedly entered the Telus store on 94 Street and attempted to steal cell phones before attacking an employee who confronted them.
The employee was rushed to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries after the males fled the store in a vehicle.

Three to See on Sunday, November 11
Redpatch
There couldn’t be a more fitting performance for Remembrance Day — the story of a Nuu-chah-nulth Nation member from Vancouver Island, fighting on the not-so-quiet Western Front during the First World War.
Our own Liane Faulder notes, ‘The play weaves a complex array of connections into a story that moves briskly… [Half-Blood’s] journey resonates, regardless of one’s background or culture.” The cast is all Indigenous actors, and it’s -
Edmonton police called in to investigate Inuvik man's death
RCMP have called in Edmonton police to investigate after a wanted man from Inuvik, NT, went missing and was found dead last weekend.
Northwest Territories RCMP said Richard Binder Jr., 35, had several warrants out for his arrest when he was reported missing on Oct. 28.
In a Monday news release, RCMP said they received a call at 9 p.m. on Nov. 3 from someone who found a body on a trail by Big Lake, near Inuvik.
On Thursday, RCMP identified the man as Binder, and said it had asked Edmonton police -
RCMP say first explosion in Sherwood Park parkade was 'deliberately' set; Multiple firearms seized from vehicle
The explosion that rocked a community centre parkade in Sherwood Park earlier this week originated underneath a half ton truck and damaged nine cars parked in the same row, causing a second vehicle’s gas tank to explode two stalls away, police confirmed Saturday.
Speaking to media at the Sherwood Park detachment on Saturday morning, RCMP Supt. Dave Kalist confirmed, for the first time, that “more than five” registered firearms — including hunting rifles, shotguns and -
Mountie charged in home invasion was Musical Ride member
An RCMP member who allegedly committed an off-duty home invasion and assault in Tofield was once a member of the force’s famous Musical Ride.
Const. Dane McCarty, a member of Tofield RCMP, was arrested Oct. 29 and charged with offences including housebreaking to commit assault, assault, and two counts of mischief under $5,000.
He made his first appearance in Vegreville provincial court last Monday.
RCMP officials would not confirm that McCarty participated in the Musical Ride, but said the -
Edmonton weather: No more freezing rain but flurries remain … That rhymes.
A look at today’s Edmonton weather by Environment Canada.
Saturday morning temperatures at the Edmonton Blatchford station measure -0.5 C with 10 km/h winds out of the northwest contributing to a -4 windchill.
Well at least the freezing rain has stopped. The wind chill, however, along with a slight dusting of snow are here to stay — for a couple of days at least. At this point, I’ll take it. anything that doesn’t turn city streets into an oversized hockey rink is fine wit -
Saturday's letters: Captioning makes Eskimo games more inclusive
On behalf of our members and the 100,000 Edmontonians with hearing loss, I would like to commend Len Rhodes (president and CEO) and Alan Watt (vice-president of marketing and communication) of the Edmonton Eskimos for facilitating captioning at the last Eskimo home game. This was a first. We appreciate the efforts that transpired, to this point, to make that happen.
It was amazing to know everything that was being said during the game by watching the captioning in the end zone. Typically, we onl -
Opinion: On Nov. 11, remember the fallen but also these things
As we near the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War, we might take time to ask: What is it that we remember on Remembrance Day?
The typical Remembrance Day ceremony takes place around a cenotaph and includes state officials (politicians and military officers), ecumenical religious figures, and often the mother, father, or spouse of a lost soldier; sometimes, too, a soldier scarred in conflict, though the injury must be obvious: hidden injuries are insufficiently illustrative for t -
Keith Gerein: Crusading MLA Robyn Luff presents no-win scenario for Notley
A week ago, few people knew her name.
Today, Robyn Luff is the talk of Alberta politics, particularly in NDP circles.
To Premier Rachel Notley, she’s become something else: an unexpected problem.
For those who haven’t been following along, the Calgary backbench MLA who had been nearly invisible in her 3½ years in office stepped into the spotlight this week by making accusations of a “culture of fear and intimidation” within her own party.
The outburst was a nuisanc -

'Three harrowing days': Sherwood Park returning to normal after twin explosions rocks community
Life in Sherwood Park is returning to normal after “three harrowing days” following a pair of explosions in the parkade of the community centre and the death of a 21-year-old man, Strathcona County Mayor Rod Frank said Friday.
Frank said the RCMP had turned control of the community centre complex and town hall back over to the county but both will remain closed for an indeterminate period of time.
The parkade at the centre of the explosions remains an active crime scene and will rema -
How about Cooper Marody leading an Edmonton Oilers Kid Line?
There’s much talk about the possibility of the Edmonton Oilers sending down 20-year-old wingers Kailer Yamamoto and Jesse Puljujarvi to the minors.
I’m not necessarily against such a plan but the idea of moving out two non-scoring but dynamic young attackers on the Oilers would not be my first choice.
No, my first choice would be to roll the dice on some kids and try to get the team scoring again. This is, after all, an Oilers squad that has scored just five goals in the last last th -
U.S. court ruling blocking Keystone XL pipeline 'frustrating setback': Alberta energy minister
A U.S. court decision to block the Keystone XL pipeline is a “frustrating setback” and underscores the need to build pipelines within Canada’s borders, says Alberta’s energy minister.
Energy Minister Marg McCuaig-Boyd also reiterated that Ottawa needs to increase crude-by-rail to deal with a price differential she described as “horrible right now.”

Councillors pepper city staff with questions about auditor's report on consulting expenses
The city’s auditor reassured councillors Friday that although $250 million in spending on consultants was miscoded, it wasn’t misused.
Ward 1 Coun. Andrew Knack said he feels much better about the $616 million the city spent over five years on consulting following an audit committee meeting that allowed the panel to question staff about not properly categorizing spending on consultants and a finding that 72 per cent of the time “change orders” were made to increase the am -
History through social media: New book on First World War shares soldiers' letters home through tweets
“Delivering rations to the front, dodging bullets & mortar fire both … bullets ripped the dirt up all round me but none of them were marked Black Jack,” First World War veteran George “Black Jack” Vowel wrote home in 1915.
His granddaughter Jacqueline Carmichael found this letter a few years ago, along with several others highlighting grim stories from the front lines. Veterans sent home more than 9 million pieces of mail throughout the war and Carmichael thoug -
Edmonton weather: Snow flurries expected tonight after freezing rain warning ends

Notes from the Dome: Veterans supports, Celebrating Armistice 100
Edmonton-area veterans will soon have a one-stop shop to find housing, get mental and physical health supports and receive help securing employment.
The provincial government is investing $3 million in a new veterans service centre and transitional housing project in north Edmonton to help link veterans to a range of services.
Non-profit organization Veterans Emergency Transition Services (VETS) Canada will manage centre operations.

Press Gallery podcast #250: The Robyn Luff Kerfuffle *ahem Ker-Luff-le* edition
Alberta politics this week wasn’t dominated by legislation and debate — Calgary-East MLA Robyn Luff stole the show with her protest about treatment at the hands of NDP brass.
Luff went public with her complaints about message control, whipped votes and bullying on Monday, and developments continued all week.
Join Press Gallery host Emma Graney with guests Clare Clancy, Keith Gerein and Elise Stolte to talk about Luff and changes to municipal election finance laws.
