• Esks' fans mull selling off Grey Cup tickets

At least a few Edmonton Eskimos fans say they’re thinking about selling off their Grey Cup tickets because the home team won’t be playing.
“It’s disappointing they didn’t make the playoffs, let alone the Grey Cup,” said Darin Bachmier as he and his family made their way out of Commonwealth Stadium on Saturday following the Eskimos’ final game of the year.
The Esks wrapped up their season with a win against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, but it’s too li

Remembrance Day this year marks the centennial of the end of the First World War and the struggle 75 years ago for Ortona, one of the bloodiest battles fought by the Loyal Edmonton Regiment (LER) during the Second World War.
The Allies and Germans both thought the fight for Ortona might be an indication of the outcome of the Italian campaign.

  • The NHL's Pacific Division is hit by an early Edmonton inversion as the Oilers reverse their fortunes from a year ago: 9 Things

I changed my clocks this morning and when I checked the NHL standings the Edmonton Oilers were 8-4-1. After a 4-0 loss to Detroit in Game #13 last season, the Oilers were 4-8-1.
Now that is my kind of Daylight Savings Time!
And while detractors may say “Easy there, Leavins, it’s pretty early”, I would say back that 13 games represents 16% of the regular season. And only 5 clubs (the Predators, Lightning, Leafs, Canucks and Flames) have more victories than Edmonton.
    It’s d
  • The Edmonton Oilers win their 8th of the season 4-3, a score that flattered the home-town Detroit Red Wings

The Edmonton Oilers were the best team on the ice Saturday night. By a mile.
A bounce here, a missed assignment there and an empty net goal for Detroit made this 4-3 game look way closer than it was. The Oilers peppered the Red Wings goal with 42 shots, dominated the game from a territorial standpoint and received mostly strong performances up and down the lineup.
It wasn’t a perfect effort by any means. But the Oilers did more than enough good things to overcome a nagging combination of
