    Attempted murder and aggravated assault charges have been laid against a man accused of stabbing a 19-year-old commuter at the South Campus LRT station Tuesday morning.
    The 24-year-old suspect was captured by police in an industrial area after fleeing the area following the unprovoked attack but not before allegedly carjacking a woman and robbing a convenience store near 57 Avenue and 111 Street.

  • One of two suspects arrested in $250,000 fraud investigation

    A 60-year-old man is facing fraud charges after two men purchased more than $250,000 worth of goods from businesses using stolen credit card information, city police said Wednesday.
    The pair of suspects targeted businesses that sold vehicle parts and electrical between November 2017 and April 2018.
    Peter Philip Cardinal, 60, was arrested Sept. 9 and charged with five counts of fraud over $5,000, two counts of fraud under $5,000 and uttering a forged document.

    An Alberta warehouse in a secret location has started to stockpile cannabis ahead of legalization on Oct. 17.
    Alain Maisonneuve, president and CEO of recently renamed Alberta, Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis said Wednesday the government agency is “very ready” to supply consumers with online sales via its website AlbertaCannabis.org.

    Police are investigating a bomb detonation inside a bank lobby at a south side bank early Wednesday morning.
    Emergency crews responded to a call for assistance from security guards at a RBC Royal Bank near 27 Avenue SW and 141 Street SW around 1:40 a.m.
    The guards had just arrived at the bank in the Chappelle Gardens neighbourhood for work when a loud bang rang out from inside a lobby, police said in a news release.

    An 18-year-old man has died in a single vehicle rollover near Rimbey Wednesday morning.
    RCMP and emergency crews responded to the scene on Highway 53 near the intersection of Range Road 40 shortly after 5 a.m., Rimbey RCMP said in a news release Wednesday.

    A steady stream of top-class technology graduates and a tax credit aimed at the industry have led a British video game startup to establish its first Canadian office in Edmonton.
    The company, headquartered in London, is called Improbable.

    A 74-year-old man has died from injuries sustained in a downtown bar assault earlier this month, police said Tuesday.
    Officers were called to the Central Social Hall on 109 Street and Jasper Avenue at about 1:30 a.m. on Sept. 8 for a report that a man, who police describe as being Asian, had been assaulted.
