    The dangerous Allendale Road cavern was discovered almost by accident, with Epcor drainage engineers realizing something was wrong during inspections for upcoming construction work, said a official Wednesday.

    JASPER, Alta. — Six people — two of them Americans — have died following a fiery highway crash in Alberta’s Jasper National Park.

    While festival-goers were trading in tickets for food, many at Heritage Fest were also unknowingly being ticketed for parking violations.
    Parking enforcement reported 577 violations, with some of the vehicles towed, in surrounding areas over the three-day event: 69 on the rained-out Saturday followed by 300 on Sunday and 208 on Monday.   • Crane woes: Dismantling could cause downtown morning commuter delays

    Downtown traffic could be a little more congested Wednesday morning with construction crews tearing down a crane at the JW Marriott building.
    The dismantling of the construction hardware is set to begin at 8:30 a.m. and should wrap up by 11:30 a.m., the city said.
    That means 104 Avenue between 101 Street and 105 Street will be closed for those three hours.
    Drivers are being urged to use 107 Avenue or Jasper Avenue to detour around the closed road.

    Sorting groceries at the Edmonton Food Bank on Friday, we volunteers were amazed at the generosity of Edmonton Eskimos fans for their donations from the Purolator Tackling Hunger event.
    Bags were loaded with many much needed items — soups, canned meats, beans, children’s snacks.  We were also discussing how fit the fans were to have carried these heavy groceries to the game.

    A deadly collision involving multiple vehicles closed a section of Highway 93 in Jasper National Park Tuesday evening.

    Nine racing bikes belonging to a competitive youth cycling team from Malaysia were recovered by RCMP on Thursday.
