• Man charged in death of 15-year-old girl killed in school bus crash

    The driver of a big rig that crashed into a school bus in March, killing a teenage girl, has been charged.
    Edmonton-based Sukhdeep Deol, 40, was arrested and charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and criminal negligence causing death in the collision that resulted in the death of Maisie Watkinson, 15, said an RCMP news release.
    Deol was released on Sunday after a judicial hearing and is expected in Fort Saskatchewan provincial court on Aug. 2.

    The passenger of a vehicle that hit the ditch in Spruce Grove Friday night died on scene while the driver survived, say RCMP.
    Police and emergency services crews responded to the single-vehicle crash in Spruce Grove at Range Road 262 around 9:55 p.m. Friday, said Mounties in a Monday news release.

    A vehicle crashed through a northwest medical lab early Friday morning.
    Police were called to the Dynalife building at 12843 140 Avenue at approximately 7:20 a.m. to find a car fully lodged in the building.

    A day at the lake turned tragic Sunday after a 10-year-old boy drowned in Astotin Lake in Elk Island National Park, east of Edmonton.

    An Edmonton soccer enthusiast says he’s recruiting teams for an August tournament that will celebrate world peace and multiculturalism.
    “It’s all about love,” said Abdullahi Mohamed, who coaches soccer and goes by the name Captain Abdul.
