  • Inmate escapes from downtown Edmonton correctional facility

    An inmate at an Edmonton inner city correctional facility has escaped.
    Correctional Service Canada said in a news release Saturday that 28-year-old Jimmy Kyle Saskatchewan went missing from the Stan Daniels Healing Centre.
    He was serving a 2-1/2 year sentence for firearms and motor vehicle-related offences at the healing centre in the city’s Boyle Street neighbourhood.

  • Lac La Biche woman charged with second degree murder

    Lac La Biche RCMP have arrested a woman for murder.
    Police found Darlene Cardinal on Friday after responding to a complaint of an unresponsive female with stab wounds. Cardinal was taken to hospital where she was declared dead.
    Wanda Ladoucer, 42, has been charged with second-degree murder, RCMP said Saturday in a news release.
    An autopsy is scheduled for Monday. Ladoucer will appear in Lac La Biche Provincial Court on July 9.

  • Dangerous dog that attacked Grande Prairie woman euthanized

    A dangerous dog that attacked a woman walking her dogs in Grande Prairie earlier this month has been euthanized.
    The attack happened June 5 and left a woman in serious condition. According to a June 6 news release from the City of Grande Prairie, two pit bull-type dogs attacked the woman while she was walking her own dogs in the city’s Crystal Landing neighbourhood.
