Kenney will abstain from abortion clinic buffer zone vote
The provincial government’s bill to create a protest-free zone around abortion clinics is a political game that doesn’t deserve a vote, says United Conservative Party leader Jason Kenney.
Kenney, a vocal abortion opponent, told media on his way into the legislature Monday he will abstain from voting on the legislation.
It’s unclear how many other UCP MLAs will follow his lead.
Kenney said the NDP didn’t campaign on the change in rules, and that the fact it’s b -

New watchdog to rule on city council ethics as early as summer
Edmonton could see a new watchdog in place to investigate future city council misconduct allegations by late summer.
Its code of conduct committee endorsed a plan Monday, opting for a system where both an ethics and an integrity commissioner are hired on a retainer and paid by the hour.
It would compliment the new provincial ombudsman, which is being put in place to investigate municipal administration decisions when all other informal and legal avenues are exhausted. There is nothing curr -

The Edmonton Oilers don't need coaching stability necessarily, they need the right coach
The Edmonton Oilers need right coach to make Stanley Cup finals, not necessarily coaching stability.
Pittsburgh 2009, Stanley Cup winners
One of the arguments we hear right now is that for the Oilers’ franchise to advance as a team, stability is needed, no major changes should occur in the leadership ranks, that it’s important to stay the course.
But if we look at teams that have made it the Stanley Cup Finals since the 2004-05 lock-out (when the financial structure of the leag -

At The Cult of Hockey: Which Edmonton Oilers exceeded, met, or failed to meet expectations in 2017-18
With the Edmonton Oilers season now over, and the long off-season upon us, its time to look back on the year that was. Much has been written about how this club entered 2017-18 with such high expectations. To state the obvious, the team failed to realize those. Their final record of 36-40-6 says so. Loudly.
But what about individual performances? To the man, they will tell you that those pale in comparison to the team’s success (or lack thereof). But with the team’s failing season in -
