• Edmonton police officer injured in firing range accident

    An Edmonton police officer was injured in an accident at the service’s firing range Sunday afternoon.   
    Northeast division Staff Sgt. Paul Czerwonka said the officer “had an accident at the firing range” while training. The officer avoided serious injury and was receiving medical treatment, Czerwonka said. 
    Police responded to a call that someone had been shot at around 1 p.m.

  • Man found in truck in a ditch near Redwater dies, RCMP Major Crimes Unit North is investigating

    The RCMP Major Crimes Unit is investigating after a 25-year-old man from the Redwater area died after being found in a truck in the ditch.
    A passerby found the man in a truck in a ditch just before 6:15 a.m. on Saturday on Range Road 234, north of Township Road 580, RCMP said in a news release Saturday.
    The man appeared seriously injured and the person who found him tried to resuscitate the man.
    Emergency Medical Services declared the man dead on scene.
