    A 21-year-old woman has died in hospital after police said her vehicle crossed the centre median on Highway 16A in Parkland County Friday, hitting a pickup truck.

    At 10:31 a.m., an Environment Canada extreme cold warning was lifted Sunday for the city of Edmonton, St. Albert and Sherwood Park. The warning called for an extreme wind chill bringing temperatures near -40.

    A Hythe man is facing multiple charges after pointing a firearm at traffic and at police near Grande Prairie.
    A man was at the side of the road, “brandishing a firearm” on the side of Highway 40 around 4 a.m. on Feb. 2, Grande Prairie RCMP said in a news release sent on Saturday.
    Mounties tried to pull the driver over, but he took off, RCMP said.

  • Edmonton Ski Club pushes back its reopening date to next week

    The opening of the Edmonton Ski Club has been delayed by five days.
    “Due to issues with our equipment that is out of our control – we were unable to open this weekend,” read a statement on the club’s Facebook page.
    At first, the club announced it would reopen on Thursday but pushed the date back to Saturday. The club now expects to reopen on Feb. 8 at 4:30 p.m..
