Darnell Nurse comes to Edmonton Oilers aid in 4-2 win over Coyotes
GLENDALE, Ariz. — Desperate to stop the bleeding since the Christmas break, the Edmonton Oilers called on their Nurse to slap a band-aid on their, “death by 2,000 cuts season” Friday but it was still hold-your-breath time against the NHL’s worst team.
The Oilers were down two to Arizona Coyotes before the game was barely three minutes gone, as Brad Richardson and Josh Archibald got shots past Oilers starter Cam Talbot before he exited for backup Al Montoya.

Saturday's letters: Where is outrage over treatment of Sears workers?
As a recently laid-off, hardworking, conscientious Sears Canada employee and passionate human rights advocate, I want to ask Canadians the following critical questions:
Why is there such appalling lack of public moral outrage over the tragic, awful destruction of Canadian retail icon, Sears Canada, as a direct result of American billionaire/majority stockholder Eddie Lampert’s gross mismanagement?
Why aren’t Canadians also not greatly outraged that I and my fellow 14,000-plus profess -
Player grades: Nurse, McDavid lead the charge as Edmonton Oilers storm back to dump Desert Dogs
Oilers 4, Coyotes 2
It was yet another horrible start for the Edmonton Oilers, this time at Arizona on Friday night. The Coyotes scored on their first shot, then again on their third, and by the 3:17 mark of the first had driven Cam Talbot from the visitors’ net. For the fourth straight time in the current road trip, Edmonton trailed 2-0 in the first period. On came Al Montoya facing a deficit that looked like the Grand Canyon, given the stark fact the Oilers hadn’t scored 2 goals in -

Dream home approved for spot city tried to expropriate in Mill Creek Ravine Park
Edmonton city planners have approved a permit for a man to build a three-storey dream house in Mill Creek Ravine Park, sandwiched between the bike path and the creek.
It’s a spot that used to have a small bungalow — which burned down in 2007 — and was at one time subject to a failed expropriation bid by the city.
But owner Robert Weinrich said living there with his family of seven will make them the guardians of the ravine.
“I’ve got five children. They’ll all -

Paula Simons: The naked truth: While Calgary panics, nude swim events in Edmonton make little splash
Thursday, the City of Calgary cancelled a private swim event at Calgary’s Southland Leisure Centre to be hosted by Calgary Nude Recreation. The city didn’t suspend the event because the swimmers were going to be naked. It cancelled because an online mob, whipped to a frenzy on social media, made such vile and virulent threats that the city actually feared for the physical safety of the naturists. Calgary police were investigating at least one of those threats.
