• Woman dead after delivery truck hits parked gravel truck

    A woman is dead after the delivery truck she was driving hit the back of a gravel truck parked on the side of a highway.
    Strathcona RCMP were called to the fatal collision on the southbound Highway 216 ramp leading onto Highway 14 east at 9:35 a.m. Monday.
    According to police, a commercial delivery truck struck the back of a gravel truck that had pulled over on the northeast side of the highway.

    Strathmore-Brooks MLA Derek Fildebrandt was found guilty in traffic court Monday and ordered to pay a $402 fine after a hit-and-run.

  • Seven-year-old girl hit by SUV outside of school

    A seven-year-old girl was taken to hospital as a precaution after being struck by an SUV outside of Coronation Elementary School.
    Police and an ambulance were called to the scene at 10925 139 St. at 8:22 a.m. Monday where an SUV struck the girl.
    According to police, the SUV was travelling under the speed limit through a school zone when the girl darted out in front of the car while crossing the street to get to school. The driver is not being considered at fault.

  • Police search for ATM theft suspects in Hinton and Fort McMurray

    Hinton RCMP are on the hunt for two suspects who used a tow rope and a truck to rip an ATM from a business.
    According to police, at around 3:30 a.m. Dec. 11, two suspects with their faces covered smashed a window at a business on Athabasca Avenue and attempted to remove an ATM using a tow rope attached to a truck.
    The suspects then loaded the ATM into the back of a waiting Ford Super Duty truck.

    Strathcona County RCMP are at the scene of a fatal crash on the southbound Highway 216 ramp leading onto Highway 14 south of Sherwood Park.
    Traffic flow on Highway 216 and Highway 14 is not expected to be affected, however the ramp will be closed for hours at police investigate.
    Investigators are asking drivers to find alternate routes.

    A man died in an Edmonton hospital after being admitted to a High Level hospital Friday with suspicious injuries. 
    Jordan Laboucan, 22, of North Tallcree was first hospitalized with injuries consistent with blunt-force trauma, RCMP said in a news release Sunday.
