  • Escaped inmate recaptured at Maskwacis institution

    Police recaptured an inmate on Saturday after he went missing a few hours earlier at the minimum-security federal institution in Maskwacis. 
    Staff at Pe Sakastew Centre reported Trevor Ryan Whittleton missing during a 5:50 a.m. count, said a Correctional Service of Canada news release. 
    RCMP issued an arrest warrant and police found Whittleton around 10 a.m. 
    The Correctional Service of Canada is investigating.
    Maskwacis is about 90 kilometres south of Edmonton.
