Cult of Hockey podcast on Oilers loss to FlyersIn many ways the Edmonton Oilers played a strong road game against the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday afternoon.
The scoring chances were certainly close, 13-to-11 for the Flyers, with the Oilers slightly ahead on Grade A chances, six to five. If you limit an opposing team at home to five Grade A chances, you’ve put in a good effort defensively overall.
After giving up an early goal, the Oilers also battled back hard in the second
  • Cult of Hockey Player Grades: Edmonton Oilers can't bury their chances, slide 2-1 to Flyers

The Edmonton Oilers found themselves trailing a fifth consecutive hockey game, Saturday afternoon in Philadelphia. It is a dangerous trend that probably cost the club at least a point, today, and ultimately has left the Oilers 2-5 on the season.  It is interesting that the Flyers have quickened substantially, as a team, and thus are much better equipped to handle the Oilers speed than they have been in the past. In fact, the Oilers inability to win races to the puck in their own end led to

The Oilers were hoping to maintain their forward progress after a 2-1 overtime victory in Chicago Thursday, and looked like they were headed in that direction when they wrestled momentum away from the Flyers for most of the final 40 minutes at the Wells Fargo Center.
But Wayne Simmonds broke their hearts when he put a shot past Cam Talbot at 17:45 of the thir
