• Ties broken with Chris Craddock after 'rape culture' confession

Rapid Fire Theatre, Edmonton’s largest improv troupe, has issued a statement distancing itself from its former artistic director Chris Craddock, saying he will no longer be affiliated with the theatre company.
“This week so many people around the world have engaged in a large conversation of sexual harassment and abuse; much of that conversation focusing on issues of sexual harassment and abuse in the entertainment industry. The improv industry has its fair share of predators and we

  • Conflicted about the merits of Ryan Nugent-Hopkins? You're not alone

Game Day #6: Oilers vs Blackhawks
Earlier this week, Sportsnet’s John Shannon engaged in the kind of mixed commentary on Ryan Nugent-Hopkins that is common.
On the plus side, Shannon said that if it came down to it and the Edmonton Oilers had to make a choice between RNH and Patrick Maroon, he’d keep RNH.
On the down side, Shannon labelled RNH as a “third-line centre.”
It’s a problem that Leon Draisaitl is out right now, Shannon said. “This is not a knoc
  • New ridings for Edmonton, Calgary, fewer for rural Alberta, Electoral Boundaries Commission recommends

Edmonton, Calgary and the Airdrie-Cochrane area will each get an additional MLA under recommended changes to Alberta’s electoral boundaries.
If the recommendations are adopted, rural Alberta will see three fewer representatives in the legislature under the changes, with ridings consolidated in the province’s central northeast, central west and eastern parts.
It all boils down to the rapid expansion of Alberta’s two major cities, and the comparatively sluggish population growth

    Orchestrotica
The first concert in the New Music Edmonton season brings together chamber music, global jazz, and exotica in the shape of Mr. Ho’s Orchestrotica. Think of them as the missing link between Martin Denny and Bach, or a lounge band pressed into service at a chamber concert. The quintet, led by artistic director and percussionist Brian O’Neill, digs through Bach, Gershwin, Shostakovitch, and a number of original compositions with eccentric arrangements and unusual instrumen

    1. The real Cam Talbot
Talbot’s game right now mirrors his first month struggles in his first year as with the Oilers. He has 3.96 average and .880 save percentage through 181 minutes. He’s faced 100 shots and given up 12 goals. He has a career 1.97 average in eight career games against the Blackhawks and was 2-1, with a 1.88 save percentage last year. He badly needs a stand-out game to
  • Thursday's letters: We get the city government we deserve

It would be a mistake for all incumbents to equate the dearth of electoral choice with general electoral contentment of the Iveson agenda.
Major project incompetence aside, the biggest failure of this regime is its non-existent fiscal management.
And what have Edmontonians to show for their hard-earned contributions? Untold millions on an unproven-in-need bike lane plan involving permanent road changes combined with a plan to expand the LRT in the face of existing unresolved significant system d

Not that he’s likely to win.

  • Edmonton Oilers were much more resilient last season than this year's team

So far this season, the 2017-18 Edmonton Oilers have proven to be a much less resilient squad than the 2016-17 Oilers.
I’m not just saying this because the Oilers were a winning team last year and so far in 2017-18 they have just one win and four losses.  I’m saying this because the Oilers have so far exhibited far less ability to bounce back from adversity.
How to measure resiliency and bounceback?
It strikes me that one of the worst things that can happen to a team is early in
