• Football still a focus, but Eskimos' Bowman finding purpose off field

Adarius Bowman officially became the 2017 David Boone Memorial award recipient at the Edmonton Eskimos annual fundraising dinner this week.
But the real reward for the all-star receiver was the opportunity during his acceptance speech to further spread his message to the hundreds of guests in attendance.
Since founding Adarius 4 Autism over the off-season, Bowman has put in as much work off the field as he ever has on it, in pursuit of raising funds and awareness for programs helping youngsters

  • Garden Hits & Myths: Fall mums add late-season kick of colour

Fall mums provide a wonderful burst of colour in our yards just when many of our other garden flowers are fading. But another wonderful attribute of these late-flowering plants is that they require so little care to continue to look great well into autumn. A single, potted, well-grown fall mum demands little more than a place to stay and a good drink of water now and again.
    A bit of science
As most gardeners know, the word ‘mum’ is the diminutive of its proper name: chrysanthemum. Ch

  • Do election campaigns matter? Maybe not as much as we think

    “Campaigns matter.”
It is probably the shortest adage in politics. And one that everyone takes as gospel.
    Maybe we shouldn’t.
We think campaigns matter because political parties can win or lose based on what happens during the relatively short period of an election campaign.
Consequently, we think politicians are justified in pouring oodles of money and effort into winning over voters.
However, a new mega study by a couple of American political scientists is raising doubts abou
