  • Alberta Health Services issues blue-green algae advisory for Chip Lake

    Alberta Health Services has issued another blue-green algae warning for an Edmonton-area lake.
    Blooms of the hazardous algae have been identified on Chip Lake, located about 130 kilometres west of the city. There are now five lakes under advisory in the Edmonton zone and 33 province-wide.
    Lake users were advised on Thursday not to swim or wade in areas where the algae is visible. Anyone who comes into contact with a bloom should wash with tap water as soon as possible, a news release said.

    The United Conservative Party is paying around $550 back to taxpayers following an internal audit of its expenses. 
    The caucus conducted its own review of MLA expenses after it was revealed members from that party and the NDP had double-dipped on meal claims paid for out of the public purse.
