Terry Jones: Eskimos have reason to feel good about themselves
Combine a 4-0 start with a couple hundred hugs from special needs kids at Monday Morning Magic and what do you get?
It would be difficult for a team to return to practice feeling much better about themselves than the Edmonton Eskimos will at the unusual time of 3:45 to 5:30 p.m. Monday.
In the morning the Eskimos tradition of players spending the morning lifting and accompanying those special needs kids between the ages of three and 12 on the midway rides. It’s a wonderfully emotional expe -

Breaking the silence around couple's counselling
At my friend’s Toronto wedding a couple of months back, I cried when, during his speech, the father-of-the-bride said, “Marriage is hard work. But it’s good work if you can get it.”
I’ve heard the first sentence of that saying before. And, while true, it always rubbed me the wrong way. “Marriage is work,” makes it sound like something you should avoid as long as possible.
But adding the second part, “It’s good work if you can get it,” r -

On the verge of merge: Will we see a new party emerge Saturday?
Mark it as a historic date on your calendar — Saturday, July 22, 2017.
For Alberta conservatives, this will be the day that marked their big comeback, when members of the Wildrose and Progressive Conservatives voted to form a new United Conservative Party.
For Alberta’s NDP government, it will mark the beginning of the end.
That is, of course, presuming the Wildrose and PCs vote to merge Saturday. And then go on to defeat the NDP in the next provincial election.
The merger vote seems -
Warning note left on parked bicycle draws attention to city's bike-rack shortage
Downtown Edmonton is short on bike racks.
A note attached to a bicycle locked to a city signpost on a sidewalk, seemingly from Katz Group Real Estate, made the rounds on social media Thursday evening and through Friday.
“Exterior bicycle parking is permitted on the designated bike racks only,” the note said, adding a picture of the bicycle had been taken and if left there again, the bike lock would be cut and the bike removed by security.
But Edmonton permits cyclist to lock their bi -
Injury-riddled Eskimos win took entire locker-room effort
HAMILTON – The list of injured Edmonton Eskimos in Thursday’s game almost sounded like the a defensive roll-call by head coach Jason Maas.
“We had a whole bunch,” he said. “Blair (Smith) went down, we had (Da’Quan) Bowers go down, we had B.T. (Brandyn Thompson) go down. We had three guys on defence go down and you were already missing (Adam) Konar.
“We’re already pretty down on the depth and we’re finding guys to come in. Christophe (Mulumba- -
FC Edmonton part ways with Canadian international Adam Straith
FC Edmonton head coach Colin Miller has been around long enough to know, you can’t always get what you want in professional soccer.
So Miller is taking in stride having to part ways with Canadian international defender Adam Straith after being unable to come to terms on a contract extension.
“I’m disappointed that we couldn’t conclude a deal,” Miller said. “It was just a short-term deal initially, and unfortunately, we couldn’t offer Adam what he wanted -
Eskimos in first place at 4-0 despite slow starts in all games
HAMILTON – It’s not how you start, but how you finish.
Right?
While it’s borderline ridiculous to criticize a team sitting atop the standings with a perfect 4-0 record when the results speak for themselves, the Edmonton Eskimos will be the first to admit they need to be better early on in games.
With just six first-quarter points to show for their three previous games on the schedule, the Eskimos finally scored their first opening-frame touchdown of the season Thursday against -

Watering trikes roll onto downtown Edmonton bike lanes
Cyclists in Edmonton should keep their eyes peeled for city staff riding the parks department’s newest vehicles — two large cargo tricycles outfitted with large water tanks.
The trikes are for watering the nearly 200 flower planters which line the new downtown bike grid. They were first rolled out for a test last week and will be in regular use on the grid for the rest of the summer.
The city’s parks operations co-ordinator, Peter Mueller, was out Friday afternoon showing off t
